Diabetes complications

On a daily basis, I see the ravages of Diabetes affecting the patients with chronic kidney disease who I care for. These diabetic complications could include stroke, dementia, blindness, heart attack, kidney failure, limb amputation, loss of sensation in digits and toes as well as infertility in the females and erectile dysfunction in the males. Dealing with this complex array of generalised diseases requires a fully integrated approach arising from multi-disciplinary and cross-professional input from a large group of health care providers, both medical and non-medical.

Reprogramming global health

Over a quarter of my patients suffer chronic kidney damage with the primary cause being diabetes, be it Type 1 or Type 2. Whilst Type 1 disease arises from an immune mechanism, the root cause of Type 2 diabetes is most often caused by obesity. So Type 2 diabetes is preventable and reversible by early intervention. This is where Reset Health can make a significant and invaluable impact. We now have a coalition of like-mind clinicians and scientists using an evidence based approach in devising a cost effective comprehensive programme to help each member.  Even more importantly, we will also re-programme the health economy - reducing the enormous global costs incurred in caring for people all over the world.  Individuals can’t afford the costs of these diseases to their lives and healthcare systems everywhere can’t afford to provide for the life-long healthcare needs of these unfortunate patients.

With Reset Health, we will kick-start a positive community of obesity, pre-diabetes and Type 2 diabetes sufferers, into a coalition of expert patients equipped with the knowledge, technology and support to maintain their own health.

We can create better population health as a whole. It’s a daunting task but doable.  And it’s our mission.
